Karisimbi Volcanoes is among the 5 Virunga Mountains in Rwanda, and it is found in Volcanoes National Park overviewing other volcanoes. Other Virunga Massifs in Volcanoes N/Park include Mt. Bisoke, Gahinga, Mount Muhabura, and Sabyinyo volcanoes. Volcanoes Park is positioned in the Northern Province of Rwanda, about 2 to 3 hours drive from Kigali city center.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Ascend to an altitude of 3700 meters
After breakfast, leave Kigali early for briefing at Kinigi and the park official will also be assigned to you to accompany on today’s hike to the summits of Karisimbi. An English-speaking guide will lead you through the morning trek to 3700 meters where you will camp for the night. You will enjoy mesmerizing views of the hilly area, Lakes, Rivers, and the surrounding communities.
Day 2: Ascend from 3700 meters to 4507 meters & back to the lodge
Start your morning with a hefty breakfast, after, complete your trek to the summits of Karisimbi volcano. At Karisimbi Volcano summits 4507 meters, you will have remarkable views of several Virunga volcanoes and surrounding areas in Volcanoes N/Park. Take pictures, explore more about this volcano’s formation and after, start hiking back to where the briefing was conducted and proceed to the lodge to have lunch at leisure. Following lunch, transfer to Kigali capital city to be dropped at a hotel and this marks the end of 2 days Karisimbi hiking tour.
