4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

This 4 days double gorilla trekking in Bwindi is a well-designed and rewarding safari which will take you to two different gorilla families of Bwindi impenetrable national park located in the southern part of Uganda.

This safari will not only take you for gorilla trekking but also for a community walk where you will be passing through different Batwa homesteads and getting involved in their cultural performances such as music, dance, drama art and craft which will give you an opportunity to buy some of their souvenirs. Later head on a drive back to Kampala stopping at the equator for photos and then Kampala from where you will drive to the airport in Entebbe and fly back home.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at the airport and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

Meet your experienced driver-guide together with our company representative who will brief you about this double gorilla trek in Bwindi national park. Immediately head southwestern Uganda where Bwindi impenetrable national park – the home of half of the remaining gorillas of the world is located. On your way to this park, you will pass through big cattle farms of the Banyankole people, tea plantations, banana plantations and terraced lands.

Have a stopover in Mbarara city for your lunch and then proceed with your drive checking in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stays.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and community walk

This is the day when you will have an insight into the mountain gorillas for the first time. Wake up early in the morning to buy yourself time for breakfast at the lodge and immediately after breakfast, pick up your packed lunch and enough drinking water and head to the park headquarters for briefing and finalizing your documents. The briefing will be short mainly containing the rules and regulations to follow while trekking these giant animals.

After your armed ranger guide will lead you to the forest for a 1-8 hour gorilla trekking experience. Since these animals tend to move high in the mountains, you are also likely to climb the mountains searching for these primates and as soon as you reach them, an additional hour will be given to you visualizing them and taking photos as they are acting differently to your visit.

Return to your lodging facility for a short relaxation and then in the evening embark on a journey for a community walk passing through several Batwa homesteads and getting some entertainment from them in form of songs, dance, and drama and optionally buying some of their crafts as souvenirs and then retreat to your lodge for dinner.

Day 3: Second gorilla trekking in Bwindi

On your second gorilla trek, you will follow the same procedures as you did the previous day but on reaching the forest after the short briefing, you will trek a different gorilla group, not the one which you trekked the previous day. You will take photos and videos of the gorillas playing with their young ones and from their head for a trekking certificate at the main office and drive back to the lodge and relax while viewing the forest and beautiful landscapes of Kigezi.

Day 4 Transfer to Kampala and fly back home

Being your fourth day and last day of your 4 days of double gorilla trekking in Bwindi, enjoy your breakfast after which drive to Kampala have a stopover at the equator in Kayabwe for a short photographic moment and after continue to Kampala and be dropped at the hotel or directly at the airport and fly back home.
