Visit Rwanda, and enjoy a double encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas in this special 4-day gorilla trekking tour. You will be exploring the lush Volcanoes National Park located in Ruhengeri in the Northern Province of Rwanda. A double gorilla trekking in Volcanoes Park means a lifetime opportunity to visit more than one habituated gorilla family. This gorilla tour also combines other activities like the Kigali city tour and a cultural visit to Iby’Iwacu cultural village.
Day one: Kigali city + Volcanoes Park tour
Day one of your double gorilla trekking experience starts with an early breakfast, after which, you will set off for a city tour in Kigali. The Kigali city tour will take not more than 2 hours, and you will be visiting important sites within the city including Kigali or Gisozi genocide center, craft centers, and Kimironko market – the biggest market. This city excursion will be followed by lunch, and then a transfer to Volcanoes N/Park in Ruhengeri region, 2-3 hours’ drive.
Day two: Gorilla trek & cultural trip
A visit to your first gorilla family will be done today, and it will begin after breakfast, briefing, and allocation of park guides and gorilla families at Kinigi offices of Volcanoes NP. 1063 mountain gorillas are left on earth, 30% of which live in Rwanda’s Volcanoes Park Ruhengeri. A trek through the bamboo and tropical forest in Volcanoes Park takes 2-6 hours, but it includes one hour of a close encounter with gorillas and taking pictures.
When you return, lunch will be provided and then you relax as you wait to pay a visit to Iby’Iwacu village. This is where you will have the most of Rwandese distinct cultures, dances, traditions, music performances, and more.
Day three: 2nd gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park
Enjoy a hefty breakfast early in the morning, after, meet the park officials at Kinigi where the briefing will be done. The second gorilla family will be visited today starting at 8:00 am and an experienced park guide will be accompanying you. After incredible moments with mountain gorillas, photography, retreat, and you will have a long evening chilling at the lodge, and share your memories.
Day four: Depart from Volcanoes National Park to Kigali
Breakfast be enjoyed at a hotel and you will transfer back to Kigali where your double gorilla tour will end. At Kigali, you may choose to undertake another city tour or drive direct to Kigali airport for departure.
