3 Days Akagera Wildlife & Balloon Safari

This 3 days Akagera National Park safari will be an amazing one as you will take part in a game drive and boat cruise. The park got its name from river Akagera which pours its water into Lake Ihema. The game drive in Akagera n/park takes place in the savannah vegetation plains and you will spot numerous animals, a boat cruise takes place on Lake Ihema where you will spot water animals.

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali. Road trip to Akagera National Park.

Arrive at the airport in Kigali, the company driver guide who will be eagerly waiting for you will welcome you and take you through a briefing and after drive to Akagera national Park, the only savannah Park in Rwanda and which is only 2 and a half hours’ drive from Kigali to Akagera national park, check in at the hotel upon arrival for dinner.

Upon your arrival in the park, you will be viewing the 10 lakes in Akagera ecosystem, animals like elephants welcoming you and several others. Optional evening game drive.

Day 2: Morning game drive and boat cruise.

With breakfast in the morning, set off for a morning game drive and you will have a look at the big five animals which include elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, leopards and rhinos, zebras, giraffes and many more others. Also, birds will be looked at since the Park hosts over 500 different species of birds. Head back to the lodge for lunch and after enjoying your lunch, the evening boat cruise will follow on Lake Ihema.

Lake Ihema is one of the 10 lakes found in Akagera and while on your boat cruise, hippos, Nile crocodiles, birds like herons, Kingfishers, marabou storks and shoebills are some of the birds that will be encountered on the shores of this lake. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Kigali city.

After taking part in all the activities in Akagera National Park, drive back to Kigali city after a morning breakfast. When you reach Kigali, visit some places like national art center, presidential palace museum and Kigali genocide site. Fly back to your home country when the trip ends or just relax at your hotel on Kigali.
